About Adler University
Adler University originated in 1952 when Austrian psychiatrist and Hull House supporter Rudolf Dreikurs started the Institute of Adlerian Psychology. That fall, Dr. Harold and Birdie Mosak started Adler’s premier archives with just 60 books.
In 1954, the nonprofit school was renamed the Alfred Adler Institute of Chicago to better honor the individual psychology pioneer. Adler University Accreditation Details
On March 22, 2012, Adler University successfully underwent the last in-depth assurance review by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association (HLC-NCA) to retain the maximum Level VI accreditation through 2022 under its fifth president, Dr. Raymond E. Crossman, who received the HPA Professional Contributions Award. Headquartered 0.9 miles south via Wells Street in Chicago, this mammoth 19-state Midwest accreditor is recognized by the U.S. Education Department to assure standards compliance for Adler’s 22 master’s, five doctoral, and two certificate offerings.
Since November 13, 1998, Adler University has held doctoral approval from the American Psychological Association Commission on Accreditation (APA-CoA). The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) also provided eight-year accreditation in July 2016.
Adler University Application Requirements
Attending Adler University for the M.A. in Industrial & Organizational Psychology Online will require finishing 120+ accredited credits from a bachelor’s degree-granting college. At least six undergrad psychology credits graded “C” or higher are deemed prerequisite. Having taken Introductory Psychology, Research Methods, Statistics, and Abnormal Psychology is preferred.
