Franklin University Organizational Psychology Degrees

The Master of Science in Business Psychology at Franklin University is designed for those who wish to motivate people, resolve managerial issues and leverage the latest research to improve organizational success. Graduates become leaders who possess an understanding of human behavior, business principles and how to leverage that information into workplace success. The program integrates the latest psychological and neuroscience research so that students are able to motivate people. Students gain an understanding of how to assess the value of neuroscience as a tool in the workplace as well as assessment of the business intelligence of an organization. They are able to evaluate psychological assessments for organizational development and can create behaviorally-based measures of economic performance. Students learn to apply psychological principles in product marketing as well as how to differentiate job applicants using common behavioral science methods. Graduates become coaches who are able to deal with dysfunctional individuals. They can also design a process to stimulate organizational innovation.

In order to successfully complete the program, students must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0. Some courses are available online but 24 of the 36 credits must be completed in residency.

Franklin University was founded in 1902 in Columbus, Ohio, sponsored by the YMCA. It began as the YMCA School of Commerce, initially to provide adult men with bookkeeping training. By 1913, the school was offering two-year degrees in accounting and, in 1921, was authorized to offer four-year degrees. In 1933, the school was named Franklin University, not because it was located in Franklin County, Ohio, as many believe, but for one of the country’s best-known Founding Fathers, Benjamin Franklin.

About Franklin University

Franklin University was founded in 1902 as the YMCA School of Commerce. Classes were held at the Columbus YMCA who sponsored the school. In 1933, the school became Franklin University and, in 1964, the university amicably separated from the YMCA. Just five years later, Franklin University moved into its first building, Frasch Hall, which was located on Grant Avenue in Columbus.

In 1993, the first graduate program, an MBA, was offered at Franklin and the first online class was offered in 1998.

In 2006, the school was named a “Best Buy” by and, in 2008, earned its first Top Military-Friendly College & Universities honor. The school began offering programs in Macedonia, Poland, and Slovakia in 2009. They continue to help busy adults earn their degree conveniently and affordably, allowing them to continue to meet the demands of work and family. Franklin University Accreditation Details

Franklin University is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission which means the university agrees to periodic reviews from the accrediting agency to confirm, based on criteria set forth by the Commission, that they are providing high-quality education. Accreditation also indicates that the university is willing to improve any areas identified as needing improvement during periodic reviews and that they have the resources to meet their obligations. Accreditation is considered the gold standard for ensuring quality education.

Business programs at Franklin University are accredited by the Council for Business Education and nursing programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. Specialized accreditation lets students, parents, and employers know that graduates of these programs are well-prepared for careers in those industries.

Franklin University Application Requirements

In order to apply for the Master of Science in Business Psychology, applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university. They must have a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.75 or must provide official GRE or GMAT scores. A current resume and references are also required. The applicant’s work history, references and some personal characteristics may be considered if they do not have a qualifying GPA or graduate test score.

Franklin University Tuition and Financial Aid

Tuition for the Master of Science in Business Psychology is $670 per credit hour.

Franklin University awards almost $13 million in student aid each year and more than half the students attending receive a financial aid package. Franklin University understands that paying for college can be challenging and the Financial Aid Office works with students to help them through the process. Financial aid is available through federal and state organizations, including grants and loans. Students may also qualify for scholarships that may be either need- or merit-based. Scholarships may be available for members of the military, their spouses and children while others may be available to members of certain groups, religions or charitable organizations.

Student and parent loans are also available, but it is important to remember that loans must be repaid. Private loans may also be available as well as institutional loans. In order to qualify for any financial aid, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA must be renewed on an annual basis.
