Keiser University Application Requirements

The basic requirements of admittance for undergraduates is that they hold:

  • a high-school diploma
  • its equivalent from an overseas school
  • a GED certificate

Students must also have earned at least a 2.7 GPA while in high school. Students are also expected to have completed a full slate of required courses in high school and also to meet the individual requirements of the department of study they choose.

Graduate students seeking the Master of Science in Organizational Psychology must have earned a score of at least 295 on the Graduate Record Examination and at least a 2.7 GPA at a regionally accredited college or university during their bachelor’s studies. Both a resume and two letters of recommendation are required.

Doctoral candidates for the Ph.D. in Industrial-Organizational Psychology most hold at least a master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution. They must have received at least a 3.0 GPA from both their undergraduate and master’s schools. These students have the option of submitting GRE scores or scores on the Miller Analogies Test. Again, two letters of recommendation and a complete resume are required.

In all cases, official transcripts from all institutions attended must be submitted with the rest of the required paperwork. Self-sent transcripts will not be accepted.

Tuition and Financial Aid

For undergraduates, the total annual cost of attendance is $33,712. Of that, $16,320 comprises basic tuition and fees. Housing and meals come to $8,160. Books, supplies, and transportation amount to $4,784. Other assorted costs are $4,448.

On the school’s website, the most recent graduate tuition data is from the 2017 – 2018 school year. Students who want to know the most up-to-date information should contact the Office of the Bursar. The tuition cost in 2017 was $23,959, and the cost for on-campus housing and meals was $7,872. Books, supplies, and transportation came to $4,224, and the assorted other costs were $4,096. The total was $40,151. This applied to both master’s and doctoral students.

Financial aid comes in three main forms:

  • grants
  • scholarships
  • loans

Work-study programs are considered a form of grant. Scholarships come in two types: merit-based and need-based. Both kinds have certain prerequisites, and most merit-based scholarships also have high standards for maintaining them. Grants are awarded on many criteria. These criteria vary from grant to grant. Some of them have the same kind of requirements and standards as certain scholarships. Students should ask the awarding body about any such requirements so that there are no unpleasant surprises. In cases where students don’t maintain the proper standards, many such awards revert to unsubsidized loans. Often, even the money already awarded is converted into such a loan.

Loans can be need-based as well. In most cases, need-based loans are fully subsidized, which means the government or other lending body pay all interest while the student is enrolled. Unsubsidized loans accrue not only interest while the student is enrolled but also accrue interest on the interest.

No matter the type of financial aid a student seeks, each student should begin with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA. Using this form, the university will determine the student’s eligibility for the various forms of financial aid. Students may receive more than one type of aid. In fact, it is not unusual for a student to receive a partial scholarship, a couple of grants, and a work-study berth to pay for nearly all required tuition.

International students who wish to participate in work-study programs should ensure all of their required work visa paperwork is complete and correct before applying for financial aid.
