Four SUNY Albany Degrees for IOP Careers

The College of Arts & Sciences grants a B.A. in Psychology at State University of New York at Albany. Students learn the fundamental notions of human behavior research. About the State University of New York at Albany
The State University of New York at Albany originated on May 7, 1844, when the State Legislature opened the Albany Normal School with an inaugural class of 29. In 1905, it was New York’s first to adopt a public, four-year B.A. curriculum. In 1948, the SUNY system added it as the New York State College for Teachers at Albany. During the 1950s, a Department of Philosophy & Psychology was established. In 1961, Edward Durell Stone designed today’s 610-acre Capitol campus near Guilderland. The next year, the first Doctor of Philosophy was launched with a new SUNY Albany designation. By 2009, the State University of New York at Albany was winning the ABCT Outstanding Psychology Training Award.
Generating a $1 billion impact, the University at Albany now enrolls 12,878 undergrad and 4,434 post-grad students from 102 countries online or on-site. It has 200+ clubs like Active Minds. The U.S. News & World Report ranked SUNY Albany the 81st best psychology school. WalletHub placed Albany 195th for student selectivity and 150th for faculty resources. The State University of New York at Albany Accreditation Details
On November 19, 2015, the State University of New York at Albany submitted the Periodic Review Report to the Middle States Commission on Higher Education to extend the maximum Level VI accreditation through 2020-21. The M.P.A. in Organizational Behavior & Theory is accredited by the National Association of Schools for Public Affairs and Administration, too.
The State University of New York at Albany Application Requirements
Admissions into the State University of New York at Albany is called “very difficult” by Peterson’s since only 13,442 of the 24,887 Fall 2017 applicants were selected for 54 percent success. First-year students earning the B.A. in Psychology must have graduated with at least 18 academic high school units. Scoring “3” or higher on the AP Psychology exam would count. The Class of 2021 had a median 92.2 average or 3.6 GPA. The middle range for SAT scores was 1150 to 1310. On the ACT, most freshmen achieved between 23 and 29.
Psychology Department transfers are test-exempt with 24+ non-remedial credits graded “C” and minimum 2.5 GPAs. The M.P.A. in Organizational Behavior & Theory usually selects 80 bachelor’s grads with GPAs of 3.3 to 4.0. General GRE test scores above the 50th percentile are required. The Analytical Writing section must be graded 4.5 or better. Having at least three years of experience is strongly encouraged. The Ph.D. in Industrial-Organizational Psychology also stipulates 15 prerequisite behavioral science credits.
The State University of New York at Albany has freshman deadlines of November 1st for Early Action and February 1st for Regular Decision. B.A. in Psychology transfers apply until May 1st for Fall or December 1st for Spring. The M.A. in Industrial-Organizational Psychology has a March 1st deadline. Incoming Ph.D. cohorts must apply by January 15th. The Rockefeller College considers M.P.A. entrants through December 15th and July 15th.

Tuition and Financial Aid
In 2018-19, the State University of New York at Albany charged in-state B.A. in Psychology majors $4,908 per term. Non-resident undergrad tuition was $13,328 each semester. Foreign students paid $14,052 per term. These figures include the $1,473 comprehensive fee. Studying part-time incurred $295 to $988 per credit. Living at the Upstate campus’ dorms added $9,010 to $13,560 each year. Traditional meal plans were $5,500 extra. Annual bachelor’s attendance equaled about $26,734 in-state and $43,574 out.
