Organizational Psychology Degrees Offered at The University of Idaho

The University of Idaho appears in our ranking of the Top 15 Master’s in Human Factors and Ergonomics.

The University of Idaho offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees in psychology. Within the confines of these majors, students can study organizational psychology. Students can earn either a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the undergraduate level.

Students pursuing a master’s degree in psychology study human factors psychology, a degree that prepares them to work as organizational psychologists. These workplace psychologists deal specifically with how humans interact with equipment and machines in the workplace.

Additionally, U of I has a department dedicated to organizational studies. This interdisciplinary degree requires students to take coursework in:

  • psychology
  • organizational communication
  • organizational structures

These courses are also offered both on campus and online.

The university’s Ph.D. program is in experimental psychology. In some instances, the theories of experimental psychology can also be applied to the organizational setting, though much of this branch of psychology is theoretical. The Ph.D. program is campus-based only.

About the University of Idaho

Founded in 1889, the University of Idaho is a public university in the northwest Idaho town of Moscow. It is a land-grant school and a research university, with branch campuses in the following cities:

  • Coeur d’Alene
  • Idaho Falls
  • Boise

Its rural environment encourages students to spend their free time:

  • running in the foothills
  • taking whitewater rafting trips
  • going camping.

Around 11,000 students attend the University of Idaho, which is split into eight different schools. This includes a special dual-enrollment program that the U of I shares with the University of Washington School of Medicine. The university offers undergraduates 94 different majors. Graduate students have 62 different courses of study to choose from. The school is on the semester system.

The Vandals, as students are also called, have access to more than 200 clubs and organizations, including intramural and organized sports teams. In the latter case, athletes who play under the Vandals mascot will play sports in the Division 1 Big Sky Conference of the NCAA.

Aside from this, the town of Moscow, where the University of Idaho is located, has plenty to offer. Cozy coffee shops, homey eateries, and movie theaters are just some of the places that students go to when they want to connect with others between classes. U of I jazz lovers will appreciate having access to the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival, a four-day event that brings the best of the best of the jazz music world to Moscow, Idaho each year.

Finally, the University of idaho has its share of impressive alumni:

Accreditation

The University of Idaho receives its accreditation from the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU). This organization offers accreditation to schools in the northwestern region of the United States and Canada, including but not limited to schools in:

  • Washington
  • Idaho
  • Oregon
  • British Columbia

University accreditation from NWCCU allows institutions to offer their students access to Title IV funds. These funds support student financial aid, teaching and university research.

Application Requirements

Students who want to apply to the University of Idaho have several options, depending on their status. Application procedures are different for each type of applicant:

  • First-year
  • GED and homeschooled
  • transfer
  • international
  • graduate

However, there are some common materials that all applicants must submit.

For undergraduates, they are:

  • An application for admittance to the University of Idaho
  • A $60 non-refundable application fee
  • A high school or university transcripts (for those that have them). Homeschooled students can submit information about the subjects they’ve studied.
  • Copy of GED test for those who have one
  • SAT or ACT scores: Homeschooled and GED students, as well as students who attended non-accredited schools must have at least a combined math and reading score of 1260 on the SAT or a 26 on the ACT.
  • Homeschooled and GED students need three letters of recommendation and a personal letter indicating their educational goals and objectives

Here are the requirements for graduate students:

They must have a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. These applicants must also indicate their proficiency level in the English language.

Additionally, graduate students should submit:

  • their transcripts
  • a CV
  • three letters of recommendation
  • a statement of purpose
  • their GRE scores

Graduate students are also required to pay an application fee. US citizens pay $60. International students pay $70.

Tuition and Financial Aid

In-state tuition for U of I is $4,152, except for art and architecture students. Tuition for these students is $4,827. This cost is based on students who take between 10 and 20 credits per semester.

Out-of-state students pay $13,770 for all majors, except art and architecture. The out-of-state tuition for these students is $14,445.

In-state graduate students in all majors, except art and architecture, pay $4,938 in tuition and fees. Out-of-state graduate students pay $14,556. In-state graduate students studying art and architecture pay $5,613. Out-of-state graduate students in these areas of study pay $15,231.

Finally, tuition for in-state residents for the University of Idaho law school is $11,130. Out-of-state students pay $20,748.

Financial aid is available to students. This aid includes:

  • grants

  • Go Idaho! scholarship
  • the National Merit Scholarship

Students should fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid form (FAFSA) to qualify for financial aid.

Online students pay the same tuition as Idaho residents do. The University of Idaho deadline for priority financial aid is October 1st.
