About Saint Louis University

Saint Louis University originated on November 16, 1818, when Most Rev. Louis Guillaume Valetin Dubourg of Saint-Domingue appointed Rev. Francois Niel to open Saint Louis Academy. Two years later, it was restructured as Saint Louis College for bachelor’s degrees. It acquired the former Camp Jackson in 1867 for its 271-acre campus in Forbes’ 70th best city. In 1910, Saint Louis debuted the first business school west of the Mississippi River. Accredited in 1916, SLU graduated its first female PhD student in 1929. Desegregated in 1944, Saint Louis University pioneered a lay and religious Board of Trustees in 1967. Since launching the School of Professional Studies in 1963, SLU was also expanded to a Madrid campus.

Saint Louis University Accreditation Details

On June 27, 2016, Saint Louis University satisfactorily submitted a Fifth-Year Interim Report to the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (HLC-NCA). It has Level VI accreditation.  Particularly, the Department of Psychology Ph.D. Program was reaffirmed by the American Psychological Association (APA) through May 2020.

Saint Louis University Application Requirements

Admission to Saint Louis University is classified “very selective” by Peterson’s because 8,653 of the 13,431 Fall 2017 applicants were successful for only 64 percent acceptance. First-year students seeking the B.S. in Psychology: Applied Psychology must graduate from licensed high schools or score above 2250 on the GED. Four years each of English and Math plus Biology are suggested. Freshmen generally rank in the upper quartile with a mean 3.9 GPA. Achieving at least 1170 on the SAT or 25 on the ACT is strongly preferred.

Online B.A. in Organizational Studies majors must be at least 22 years old with three years of work experience. The School of Professional Studies is generally test-optional, but international students need a minimum 6.5 IELTS, 54 Pearson, 80 TOEFL, or 540 SAT Reading mark.

M.A. in Leadership & Organizational Development cohorts must be currently employed part- or full-time. Bachelor’s courses like Statistics, Organizational Theory, and General Psychology are prerequisite. GPAs falling below 3.0 are considered on case-by-case bases. The Ph.D. in Industrial-Organizational Psychology mandates:

  • an accredited Master of Science
  • GPA above 3.49
  • 50th percentile GRE score
  • Saint Louis University has final undergrad deadlines of November 1st for Spring and March 1st for Fall entrance. Online B.A. in Organizational Studies transfers can apply until one month before the seven-week term starts. The M.A. in Leadership & Organizational Development has an April 1st priority deadline. Tuition and Financial Aid

For 2018-19, Saint Louis University is billing full-time B.S. in Psychology: Applied Psychology majors $21,580 by term or $43,160 annually. Excess credits cost $1,510 apiece. Summer Session courses are $770 per credit. Undergrads pay:
